 Steps

  1. Place the ice sculture in the samll greenhouse
  2. Turn on the heating source at the same time
  3. Make holes and insert the thermometer
  4. Make holes to insert a small pipe line that connects the gas container with the greenhouse.
  5. Make a holes to connect the computer with the greenhouse and the thermometer
  6. The computer analyze and graph the amount of gas and temperature in the greenhouse.
  7. Emit the gas into the greenhouse in an accurate amount
  8. Wait and see what happens over time

What are greenhouse gases?

  • Greenhouses gases are any gas in the atmosphere that absorbs lower-energy infrared radiation.

  • There are many different kinds of greenhouse gases and they all have different concentration in the atmosphere.

  • The concentration decides how much thermal energy each molecule of gas can absorb.

Different kinds of gases (methane and CO2)

Airtight space where no gases can be leaked

Computer that analyze and graph the changes and the amount of gases in the airtight space

Average temperature:

CO2: 24.8ºC

Methane: 24.9ºC

Control: 23.9ºC

 

The temperature of the CO2 greenhouse and Methane greenhouse have higher average temperature than the control greenhouse. As we see the results, we can conclude that greenhouse gases actually increase the temperature of the earth.
