Methane consists 1 carbon and 4 hydrogen atoms in each molecule. Earth's atmosphere contains 1.785ppm methane, which is around 0.0002%. It is uncommon but methane is 23 times more powerful as greenhouse gas than a molecule of carbon dioxide.
Types of greenhouse gases
Water Vapour consist one 2 hydrogen and 1 oxygen atom in each molecule. The water vapour is the most important factor in the water cycle. There will be no clouds and snow if there is no water vapour. All the water vapour that evaporates from the surface of the earth eventually returns as precipitation.
Nitrous Oxide consist 2 nitrogen and 1 oxygen atom in each molecule. Earth's atmosphere contains extremely few amount of nitrous oxide. A molecule of nitrous oxide is almost 300 times more effective than a molecule of carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.

Carbon Dioxide
(CO2)
Methane
(CH4)
Carbon dioxide consists two oxygen and one carbon atoms in each molecule. Earth's atmosphere contains 385ppm carbon dioxide, which is around 0.04%. It is the 4th most abundant gas in the earth atmosphere. CO2 is not as significant as other greenhouse gases, but the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere can be significant.
